Allen Wranglers News Release
ALLEN, TX-The Allen Wranglers recognize that they aren't the only ones fighting on the front lines.
The team is coming together for Operation Appreciation on Saturday, May 21st. Operation Appreciation is designed to honor and thank all members of our armed forces and those fighting the front lines for our freedom.
"We just want to show our troops how much we appreciate their sacrifice for us," vice president John Harris said.
Members of the armed forces will serve as the honorary captains and be recognized throughout the game. A moment of silence will take place prior to kickoff to honor and remember Americans who have fought and are fighting for our country. All veterans and soldiers are invited to attend the game free of charge; military personnel will be asked to be in uniform or show their military I.D. to get their free ticket.
"We all know someone who is serving or who has served our country in this manner," Harris said. "This hits home for all of us."
The team will honor military personnel by playing in new camouflage jerseys. Those jerseys will be autographed and auctioned off to fans after the game. Proceeds from that auction will be donated to supporting families with spouses who are deployed overseas. Bids for the jerseys start at $50; a silent auction for jerseys will be held during the game and a live auction after.
