Casper Ghosts News Release
CASPER, Wyoming - The Casper Rockies announce their Opening Day 2007 Festivities will take place on August 2nd when the team welcomes the Idaho Falls Chukars to Mike Lansing Field to open a 6-game home stand.
Yes, the Rockies celebrated Opening Day 2007 on June 19th. But, following a first half record of 10-28, the organization felt it was best to wipe the slate clean in '07.
"We just want to celebrate the fact our record goes back to 0-and-0 and now we once again have a chance to win a title in the second half," said Rockies Director of Fun Matt Warneke. "We have a new life in the second half, so why not throw a party?"
It's arguable the Rockies didn't show up for the "First Opening Day" so the organization decided to start anew when the Pioneer League's second half starts anew on July 30th.
After a 3 game road trip in Orem, the Rockies plan to pull out all the stops on Opening Day: Take Two. Some of the opening weekend festivities include a visit from University of Wyoming head football coach Joe Glenn. Glenn will be in attendance Thursday to throw out the first pitch.
Opening Day: Take Two will also feature a variety of local celebrities who will participate in the Rockies between inning, on-field promotions and help celebrate the Rockies 7th season in Casper. Even the "voice of the Rockies" Tim Ray will also have a special role in the Opening Day: Take Two Festivities.
As always, Thursday is also Thirsty Thursday at the Ballpark. With the sponsorship of the Movie Star Lounge, beer and sodas are just $1 all night long at Mike Lansing Field.
The rest of the "Opening Weekend" home stand is packed with enough fun to wipe every bad first half memory away.
On Friday August 3rd, the Rockies will host their 5th Friday Night Fireworks Celebration of the season courtesy of Lantis Fireworks. Friday is also Downtown Merchant Night.
Sunday August 5th will be Casper Star Tribune Family Day at the field. Fans can get 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 sodas and a program for just $20.
On Monday August 6th, the Rockies invite you out for Tim Ray Dollar Dog Day. That's right Tim Ray's favorite ball park treat is just $1 every Monday this summer at Mike Lansing Field.
The home stand wraps up with Fat Tuesday August 7th at Mike Lansing Field. There will be special prices on Fat Tire beer and other Mardi Gras themed events.
Don't Miss any of the 2007 Casper Rockies Season. Call 232-111 for ticket information or pick up your tickets at the front gate or front office!
