Charlotte Knights News Release
FORT MILL, S.C. - May 11, 2009 - The Charlotte Knights and Charlotte Radiology present the 4th Annual Pink Knights game this Saturday, May 16 at 7:15 p.m. A portion of all tickets will be donated to help "Strike Out Breast Cancer." Knights players will take the field in special pink jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game.
The goal of the event is to help raise awareness and money for mammograms.
A portion of all ticket sales, a portion of special pink merchandise, and money from the jersey auction will be donated to the Carolinas HeathCare Foundation. The money will be used to help underwrite breast cancer screenings for local women who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford it.
"One in eight women is affected by breast cancer; the statistic speaks for itself. But finding breast cancer early is the key to surviving it," says Katie Robbins, Marketing & Practice Relations Director Charlotte Radiology. "It is important that women 40 and older get their mammograms every year. If they can't afford a mammogram, they need to know that there are local services that can help them pay for their it, thanks to organizations like the Charlotte Knights and Charlotte Radiology!"
In a challenge for fans to attend the game, should the Knights attendance go over 10,000 on Saturday night the Knights will double the percentage of ticket money donated. The first 1,000 women through the gates will receive a pink "Strike Out Breast Cancer" reusable tote courtesy of Charlotte Radiology.
Fans can purchase tickets for the event, along with special pink merchandise, at pinkknights.com. Tickets are also available over the phone by calling 704-36-HOMER.
The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For ticket or event information, please contact the Knights front office at (704) 357-8071 or (803) 548-8050 or visit our website at www.charlotteknights.com for more information.
