Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks News Release


The Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks have been on the road since Monday, May 12 and finished their last game against the Jackson Senators today, Wednesday, May14. On Monday, at the Senators home opener, Jackson beat the Ducks 10-3. Kenny Rayborn, of the Senators, picked up the win, throwing five innings, allowing three runs on eight hits, only two of which were earned. Matt Dill, of the Ducks suffered his first loss of the year, allowing seven runs on nine hits in six innings.

Tuesday’s game showed that the Ducks can come back. They came from behind to win the game 5-4 and are now back at 500 thanks to good pitching and clutch hitting. Tim McClaskey recorded his second complete game victory of the season while striking out six and not allowing a single base on balls. Terence Green was the player of the game with three RBI's all with two outs. The double for the go ahead runs made the play of the game in the eighth inning. Bobby Koba hit his third triple of the season.

The last game with the Senators took place at 10:30 this morning where the Ducks proved once again that they can push their way to a win, even when trailing 7-4 leading into the ninth inning. Matt Steinkamp took the win, as he was the beneficiary of the five run ninth inning. The Ducks and Senators are tied for first with a record of 4-3 in the CBL.

Home Stretch Success

The Springfield/Ozark Mountain Ducks opened the 2003 season with a smashing home game. They crushed the Dillas 10-0. Ducks newcomer Tim McClaskey threw a complete game to earn his first win of the season. The Ducks made 10 runs with 14 hits. The following night the Ducks gave up the win 14-10, giving the win to Dillas pitcher Jackson Engels and the loss going to Ducks pitcher Steve Oelke (0-1). Saturday night’s game the Ducks fought for home ground and won 5-4. Ross Cowling pitched the first seven innings, with the win going to Phillip May. The Ducks fought a good fight on Sunday’s game but the Dillas overcame the Ducks 16-15. Brent Evans started the game and Tim Vasquez had his first loss of the season.

Next Home Games

The Ducks will be playing at home from Thursday, May 15 – Wednesday, May 21. Thursday is Ducks Care and Quack Attack Pack night. Quackers will be given to all Quack Attack Pack members sitting in section 100. Fireworks Friday on May 16, Youth Bat Giveaway on Saturday, May 17 where youth bats will be given to the first 1,000 kids 14 and under. Family night on May 18, Buck Night on May 19 where Homer dogs, sodas and popcorn are only a $1all night. May 20 is Kids day and May 21is Weiner Wednesday and Liberty Bank Senior Nite where Homer dogs are $1 and seniors can pick up a $2 Senior Discount ticket voucher at all Liberty Banks.
