The Omaha Vipers MISL professional indoor soccer team announced the selection of their new head coach. Marcelo Fontana, a standout player with the Milwaukee Wave brings 15 years of experience to the team.
Pro career:
-A 15-year CISL/NPSL/MISL veteran who has found a home in Milwaukee
-Won championship with Wave in 2004-05
-Authored electrifying 3-pointer in Game 2 of MISL Semifinals against Baltimore in 2007-08, rushing end to end before beating Sagu to the far post
-Most productive professional season was in 1999-2000 with Wichita Wings (26 goals, 20 assists, 41 blocks)
-Tied for second in MISL in 2005-06 with 7 power play goals
-Also played for Seattle Seadogs of CISL in 1995-97
-Won championship in 1995
-Started pro career with San Lorenzo of Argentina at age 19
-Coaches youth soccer for Mequon Soccer Club
The press conference was held at the official training facility of the Omaha Vipers - The Indoor Soccer Center, 4718 North 120th Street, Omaha, NE 68164.
The Omaha Vipers are the MISL's newest franchise and will begin play in November 2010 at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Season tickets are now on-sale at (402) 932-3335 or on-line at www.omahavipers.com.
