Omaha Lancers News Release

Ralston, Neb. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) will have a glorious opportunity to continue their climb up the Western Conference standings this weekend as they face off against a trio of conference opponents.

Omaha (13-11, 26 pts.) continued its winning ways last weekend with a pair of victories at Ralston Arena. First, the Lancers earned a 4-3 win over the U.S. National Team Development Program's Under-17 team Friday before hanging on for a 4-3 victory at home over the Lincoln Stars on Saturday. All told, Omaha has now won nine of its last 11 games and has produced an 11-4 record since starting the season 2-7.

The Lancers return to action this Friday as the team kicks off its second and final three-game weekend of the year when the Orange and Black head to Lincoln for a rematch with the Stars. Lincoln (14-6-1, 29 pts.) saw its three-game winning streak snapped in last Saturday's 4-3 setback at Ralston Arena. The Stars opened their weekend with a 4-2 victory at home over the Sioux City Musketeers. This Friday's meeting will mark the fourth head-to-head get-together between Lincoln and Omaha over a span of just 24 days. Before the Stars host the Lancers on Friday, Lincoln's week begins tonight as the team travels to Cedar Rapids to battle the RoughRiders. The Stars then return home Saturday to host the Sioux Falls Stampede.

Omaha's busy weekend continues Saturday when the Lancers head up to the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City for a showdown with the Musketeers. Sioux City (4-14-4, 12 pts.) snapped its eight-game winless skid last Saturday with a 4-1 win at the Fargo Force but still suffered a pair of losses during a busy three-game weekend. The Musketeers dropped a 4-2 decision in Lincoln on Friday before earning their victory in Fargo on Saturday only to see the weekend come to a close with a 3-1 loss at home to Sioux Falls on Sunday. All told, Sioux City has dropped nine of its last 10 games overall while garnering just three of a possible 20 standings points during that stretch. Before welcoming the Lancers on Saturday, the Musketeers kick off their weekend on Friday with a visit from Cedar Rapids.

Meanwhile, Omaha's three-game weekend comes to a close on Sunday when the Lancers welcome the Sioux Falls Stampede to the Ralston Arena for the first time this season. Sioux Falls (15-7-1, 31 pts.) snapped a modest three-game losing skid with a pair of wins last weekend. The Stampede blanked the Tri-City Storm 2-0 on Friday before earning a 3-1 victory at Sioux City on Sunday.
