Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Omaha Storm Chasers (61-49) scored 13 runs between the fourth and seventh innings in a 13-2 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks (48-63) before 3,866 Tuesday night at RedHawks Field at Bricktown.
Luis Mendoza (8-4) allowed one run and four hits over six innings with one walk and six strikeouts. Mendoza's league-leading ERA dropped from 2.37 to 2.32. RedHawks starter Nelson Figueroa (6-7) gave up five earned runs and seven hits over three and two-thirds innings in the loss. Robinson Tejeda (1) picked up a three inning save, giving up one run over the final three frames.
Recent Astros trade acquisition Juan Abreu made his organization debut, dealing two innings with four hits, one earned run, one walk and one strikeout. Abreu dealt 35 pitches, with 22 strikes.
Omaha opened the scoring in the fourth inning against Figueroa. David Lough led off with a home run for a 1-0 score. Irving Falu later contributed a sacrifice fly for a 2-0 score. Lance Zawadski next tripled in a pair of runs for a 4-0 game before a Joaquin Arias RBI single opened a 5-0 score and sent Figueroa from the game.
The RedHawks countered with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning when Robinson Cancel grounded out to score Anderson Hernandez for a 5-1 game.
The Storm Chasers added three runs in the fourth inning when Kila Ka'aihue belted a three-run home run and opened an 8-1 score.
Omaha added four runs in the sixth inning, using a Lorenzo Cain bases loaded walk, Clint Robinson sacrifice fly and Salvador Perez two-run single for a 12-1 advantage. The Storm Chasers made it 13-1 with a seventh inning RBI single from Cain.
The RedHawks finished the scoring in the eighth inning when Collin Delome belted a two-out, solo home run to right field for a 13-2 final.
