ODESSA, TX - In the first game of a season-long nine game homestand, the Odessa Jackalopes fell to the Amarillo Bulls 6-1 Friday at Ector County Coliseum. With the loss, the Jacks' ninth consecutive defeat, Odessa fell to 6-39-3 overall this season and with 15 points, remain alone in sixth place in the NAHL's South Division standings.
After a three-goal first period for the South-leading Bulls, keyed by scores from Clint Carlisle at 12:18, John Rey at 17:29 and Tyler Deresky at 17:56, Amarillo pushed the lead to 4-0 when Gage Christianson potted a power-play goal early in the second period.
The Jackalopes punched back at 17:27 of the middle frame, when Anthony Olguin fired off a quick-release snapper from the heart of the slot, his team-leading eleventh goal of the season and 20th point, assisted by Taylor Portner and Chris Taff. A pair of extra-skater scores in the third, from Mike Davis and Deresky respectively, sealed the win for Amarillo, the Bulls 20th consecutive regular season defeat of Odessa, dating back to the 2011-12 season.
In his 19th appearance of the season, Jackalopes netminder and Lacrosse, Wisconsin native Nick Deery fell to 4-11-1, making 26 saves in the loss.
