
OHL Draft: Rangers Pick Three Skaters on Day One

Kitchener, ON - The Kitchener Rangers selected three players on Day One of the 2024 OHL Priority Selection, presented by Real Canadian Superstore. The Rangers tabbed right-shot centreman Evan Headrick with the 15th-overall pick before selecting Alexander Bilecki in the second round and Weston Cameron in the third.

Headrick, the Rangers' first-round (15th overall) selection is a right-shot centreman from Sault Ste. Marie, ON. He played his minor hockey with the Oakville Rangers U16 AAA program last season where he totaled an impressive 49 points (21G, 28A) in 31 games. The 5'7.5", 150-pound forward led his team to win the 2024 OHL Cup as the leading scorer with six goals and five assists in seven games.
"It's a tremendous honor to be drafted by such a historic and well-established organization," said Headrick. "I'm humbled and thrilled to be a part of this team. Walking the same halls as the great players who came before me is truly inspiring. I'm eager to contribute to Kitchener with the same enthusiasm, effort, and hard work that this team is known for."
The Rangers then selected Alexander Bilecki with their second-round pick, 31st overall. Bilecki is a left shot defenceman from Mississauga, where he grew up playing his minor hockey in the Mississauga Rebels program. The 6-foot-1, 155lbs blueliner registered 24 points (8G, 16A) in 33 games last season. At the 2024 OHL Cup Bilecki played at an impressive point-per-game pace scoring two goals and four assists with a plus-three rating in the tournament.
With their third-round pick, at 49th overall, the Blueshirts picked Weston Cameron, the captain of the Toronto Marlboros where the forward scored 18 goals and 35 points in 29 games. Cameron stands at 6-foot-2, 162lbs and was born and raised in Toronto. He helped his team to victory at the Toronto Titans tournament and came second at the Silver Stick.
"We are really happy with how day 1 unfolded," said General Manager Mike McKenzie. "All three players we selected are guys we were extremely excited to select, and think will be a big part of our team's future. We welcome Evan, Alexander, and Weston to Kitchener."
