Offseason Update: Wambach Leads USA to CONCACAF Championship

ELMA, N.Y. ( Monday, October 27, 2014 ) - The U.S. Women's National Team completed CONCACAF Championship play, with Abby Wambach extending her world-record goal total, while Jasmyne Spencer continued to produce in Australia.

A Look Back: October 20-26

USA Wins CONCACAF Title; Qualifies for 2015 World Cup

Abby Wambach, Whitney Engen and the U.S. Women's National Team qualified for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup beating Mexico by a 3-0 score during the COCACAF semifinal round on Friday. Then, in the Championship game on Sunday, Wambach went on to score four goals to lead the Americans to a 6-0 victory of Costa Rica and earned the Golden Boot as the tournament's leading scorer.

Spencer Scores but Sydney Falls in Derby

Flash forward Jasmyne Spencer continued her scoring spree through the Westfield W-League on Sunday, tacking on her sixth goal of the season. However, the goal was not enough as Sydney fell 2-1 to crosstown rivals Western Sydney after the Wanderers scored on a penalty kick and an own goal.

A Look Ahead: October 27-November 2

Sydney vs. Brisbane - Sat., Nov. 1, 2014

Lambert Park, 2 a.m. ET (5 p.m. AEST)

Despite a loss in Round 7, Sydney FC sits in second-place in the ladder and will look to hold the position by gaining another three points in Round 8. The Sky Blues next opportunity for the points comes on Saturday when the club hosts last-placed Brisbane who has a 1-1-5 record thus far.
