Offseason Update: W-League Players Return to Action After Holiday Break

ELMA, N.Y. (Monday, January 4, 2016) - Western New York Flash players in the W-League returned from the holiday break and played big roles in their team's performances.

Here's a look at the past week of the Flash offseason:

A Look Back: December 28-January 3

Canberra Secures W-League Finals Placement (Australia)

Canberra United picked up a big win on Saturday, defeating Perth Glory 2-0 to secure its seventh appearance in the W-League Finals. Michelle Heyman played all 90 minutes and provided the assist on Canberra's second goal, setting up Ashleigh Sykes.

Dahlkemper Scores in Adelaide Loss (Australia)

Abby Dahlkemper continued to be a critical piece of the Lady Reds offense, scoring another goal despite Adelaide falling 3-1 to Brisbane on Sunday. Dahlkemper again featured for the full match, as Adelaide remains in the hunt for the postseason.

A Look Ahead: January 4-10

Canberra vs. Western Sydney - Sun., Jan. 10, 2016 (Australia)

McKellar Park, 12 1.m. ET (4:00 p.m. AEST)

With the postseason already locked up, Michelle Heyman and Canberra will look to continue momentum into its Round 13 match when it hosts Western Sydney this weekend. Canberra had no issues in the two clubs first meeting, coming away with a 4-1 win on the road.

Adelaide at Perth - Sun., Jan. 10, 2016 (Australia)

Ashfield Sports Club, 3 a.m. ET (4:00 p.m. AEST)

Adelaide enters Round 13 knowing three points will be extremely important, as the club currently sits in a three-way tie for the fourth and final W-League Finals spot. The team travels to Perth this weekend to face the Glory, who they drew 1-1 with early last month.

Apollon at Kokkinochori - Sun., Jan. 10, 2016 (Cyprus)

Dimotiko Stadio Sotiras, 4 a.m. ET (11 a.m. EET)

After three-week break, Ashley Nick and the Apollon Ladies will return to action when they travel to Kokkinochori on Sunday morning. The team will look to continue its seven-game shutout streak, having only allowed a goal in the season opener.
