GLENDALE, AZ (October 5, 2012) - The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that CHL officials will be reporting this weekend to the annual CHL Officials' Training Camp. This year's camp will take place in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Oilers Ice Center from October 5-7.

"Each year the CHL Officials enjoy the time together at training camp, fully understanding the need of such an intense Camp," said Bryan Lewis, CHL Referee-in-Chief. "Every effort is made by the Central Hockey League Officiating Management Team (Lewis, Leon Stickle, Tom Berry, Randy Shantz and Jim Wiley) to prepare the officials for the season long battle, through the playoffs to the Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Championship."

During the camp, returning referees and linesmen, as well as new officials to the CHL, will participate in skating sessions and competitions, rules sessions and tests, sharing of CHL and NHL rules documents, extensive video review, situation drills and orientation with off-ice official's crew chief from Tulsa.

This summer, two former CHL full-time officials were awarded National Hockey League contracts, John Grandt and Jon McIsaac, joining the likes of Gord Dwyer, Frederick L'Ecuyer, Mark Lemelin and David Brisebois as former full-time CHL officials that are currently under NHL contracts.

The CHL's regular season gets underway Friday, October 19 with games in Denver, Bloomington and Wichita.
