November 19, 2019 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) - Chesapeake Bayhawks News Release

Boston, MA- The accolades rack up for Chesapeake Bayhawks attack Lyle Thompson. In 2019, Thompson led the MLL in goals with 46 and points with 73. For his play, Thompson was named Coca-Cola MLL MVP and New Balance Offensive Player of the Year.

In addition to his individual success, Thompson also experienced team success for the first time in his professional career as the Chesapeake Bayhawks won the MLL Championship in Denver. Thompson was drafted first overall in the 2015 MLL Draft by the Florida Launch. In that same year, Thompson was also selected first overall in the NLL draft, becoming just the second player ever to be drafted first overall by both leagues.

Over his first four full seasons in the league, Thompson scored 63 (One 2PT) goals and added 45 assists for a total of 109 points.

What They're Saying

Thompson has been in the spotlight since he first took the field. Here are some quotes from others in the lacrosse world about Lyle Thompson...

"Lyle is the true definition of a lacrosse player. His elite skillset and talent speaks itself, but what sometimes goes unnoticed is his relentless attack and effort."

- Bayhawks teammate Jesse Bernhardt told US Lacrosse

"He's unguardable. Clearly, if he's not the best player in the world, he's definitely in the top three. Unfortunately, watching him do it against my team is tough, but he's a dazzling player to watch. This league is very, very lucky to have a guy like that."

- Outlaws attackman and Record Holder for MLL Regular Season Points, John Grant Jr.

"Lyle is an amazing playmaker who can create for himself and others. He's someone the defense really has to focus on, both with the ball and without."

- Brian Reese, 2017 Coach for the Chesapeake Bayhawks to MLL.
