HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Generals (15-18) bats exploded in the rubber game of the series Saturday night in Huntsville. Jackson defeated the Huntsville Stars (13-22) and took the series finale 12-8. The Generals tallied 13 hits and scored multiple runs in four separate innings Saturday.

Without a hit, the Generals struck first in the top of the first. Generals' shortstop Brad Miller (2-4, 3 RBI, 2B, R) was walked, then eventually scored on a wild pitch. With two-outs, Steven Proscia (0-5, R) struck out swinging, but reached first on a passed ball on catcher Joey Paciorek. With Julio Morban (3-5, 2 RBI) at the plate, Miller scored from third on a wild pitch, Proscia to second. Morban's single plated Proscia which gave the Generals a 2-0 lead.

The Stars led off their first frame with back-to-back singles by Ozzie Chavez, then Nick Shaw. With two on, no out, Kentrail Davis reached first, hit-by-pitch. One batter later, Jason Rogers cleared the bases and gave the Stars the lead with a grand slam. Trouble would continue for Generals starter Anthony Fernandez (W, 1-0, 9.45, 5.0,8,6,0,4,2) after giving up two more doubles which scored one. The Stars would have a 5-2 lead at the end of the first.

In the second, Vinnie Catricala (3-4, 2 RBI, 3 R, 2B) and Jack Marder (2-4, 2 R) led off the inning with walks. With only one out, Abraham Almonte (1-4, 2 RBI, 2 R, 2B) loaded the bases by reaching first on a free pass. The Generals tied the game after Brad Miller crushed a double to center to clear the bases with two outs. After one and a half, the game was knotted 5-5.

As walks continued to give the Generals base runners, Jackson took the lead in the third, 7-5. Generals' outfielder James Jones (1-4, 2 R) reached first via a walk with one out. Jones put himself into scoring position by stealing second. With Jones on second, Catricala brought Jones in with an RBI double to left. Leon Landry (1-4, RBI, 2B) contributed to the one-run lead by doubling to right, scoring Catricala from second, which gave the Generals a two run lead.

However, the Stars responded with one run in the bottom of the third frame. Jason Rogers continued his offense attack by adding another run to the board with his second home run of the day. The solo shot would shorten the Generals lead to one. After three innings, the Generals led 7-6.

In the fifth, the Generals' third basemen Vinnie Catricala led off the inning with a single. Jack Marder moved the runner and reached base on an infield single via bunt. Leon Landry played small ball and sacrificed the runners over. The Generals' designated hitter, Abraham Almonte, brought both runners in with a one out double which gave the Generals a 9-6 lead. Almonte would come around and score after an overthrow at third base while attempting to steal third. Morban would contribute and plate John Hicks (0-5, R, BB) making the lead 11-6 halfway through five.

After two scoreless innings, the Stars would tack one run on the board in the sixth. The Generals' led after six 11-7.

WIth the base loaded in the seventh, the Stars chipped away at the Generals lead by adding one run in the seventh, which cut the lead 11 to 8.

The Generals added a one run insurance in the eighth by a RBI single by Vinnie Catricala plating James Jones. The score 12-8 would hold to be the final.

Generals' starter Anthony Fernandez earned the win, while Arcenio Leon endured the loss.

In the finale, Julio Morban extended his eight game hitting streak to nine, which is second best this year behind Steven Proscia's 10-game streak.
