Oakland Roots News Release
San Antonio got on the board first inside of 2 minutes through Sam Adeniran who cooley finished past a scrambling Roots defense to give the home side the 1-0 lead. Not long after Victor Giro went down with an injury forcing an early substitution for San Antonio. Roots started to create some pressure as the half progressed but were unable to convert that into a major chance on goal inside the first 30 minutes. The first major chance fell the way of Roots in the 32nd minute when Danny Barbir headed just over the bar from just a few yards out. Just minutes later Óttar Karlssson would see his strike from 15 yards out saved by Jordan Farr as San Antonio remained in the lead. Despite the Roots' chances after going down early the half would end with San Antonio in a 1-0 lead.
Oakland came out on the front foot early in the second half earning a free kick and a corner inside of the first five minutes of the half. The second half progressed for another ten minutes without either side creating a chance. Roots made an attacking change as the pressure began to mount, but they were hit with a San Antonio strike in the 75th minute from Santiago Patiño to give the home side the 2-0. Oakland made more attacking subs but it was not to be as Oakland once again fell in the Western Conference Semifinal for the second straight season. San Antonio would find one last goal in stoppage time to send Oakland home with a 3-0 defeat and out of the playoffs.
