Oakland Roots and Soul SC have partnered with Wefunder for the upcoming Community Investment Round campaign set to launch in the coming months. Wefunder has a proven track record of supporting the crowdfunding efforts of multiple men's and women's soccer clubs at both the professional and amateur levels.

"We're delighted to be working with Wefunder on this historic initiative for the club," said Oakland Roots & Soul Chief Purpose Officer Mike Geddes. "We believe they are the best partner we could find to make our Community Round accessible and successful for everyone."

Wefunder was launched in 2011-12 and is now a market leader in crowdfunding with over $5 billion having been invested in startups that ran campaigns on the platform. Wefunder has successfully worked with USL W League and USL Championship clubs in the past including Minnesota Aurora and Detroit City FC.

"At Wefunder, we believe in letting companies', fans, and supporters invest in themselves. This applies to sports teams as well as coffee shops and tech startups," said Jake Suggs, Wefunder Head of Launch. "The Green Bay Packers have the most ardent fanbase in the entire NFL, and we believe it's because the Packers are owned by the fans. We're delighted that more sports teams are committed to opening up ownership to their fans through a community round on Wefunder."

In the coming weeks, Oakland Roots and Soul SC will share more information including details around the launch of the campaign.
