Huntsville, AL â After falling in a rain-shortened contest to West Tennessee on Sunday, the Orlando Rays weren't wasting any time in Huntsville Monday, rallying for a 5-2 victory over the host Huntsville Stars Monday.
Jonny Gomes and Dan Grummitt powered the Rays offensively, blasting home runs in the second inning (Grummitt) and again in the eighth (Gomes). The blast was Grummitt's first of the season, while Gomes went deep for the second straight game.
Jim Magrane (2-0) earned his second win for the Rays, while Evan Rust picked up his first save for Orlando, which improved to 3-2 on the young season. Pedro Liriano took the loss for the Stars, dropping to 0-1.
The Stars and Rays square off again tomorrow at 1:05 p.m., with Jose Veras scheduled to take the mound for the Rays.
