
NY Lizards Lose to Denver Outlaws, 15-12

Hempstead, NY - The New York Lizards MLL Lacrosse team lost to the Denver Outlaws in their seventh home game of the season here tonight, by a final score of 15 - 12 in regular play.
Ryan Lee scored four goals and Mikie Schlosser netted a hat trick as the Denver Outlaws clinched an MLL playoff berth. The Outlaws outshot the Lizards 30-27 and won the groundball battle 38-35. Between the pipes, Denver goalie Dillon Ward made 15 saves.
The Outlaws (9-5) raced out to a 4-0 lead after one quarter and then led 8-0 in the second quarter before Brendan Kearns finally got the Lizards on the board. Denver outscored the Lizards 5-2 in the second quarter and led 9-2 at halftime. Then the Lizards would begin their comeback. The Lizards outscored the Outlaws 6-2 in the third quarter cutting Denver's lead to 11-8 heading into the final quarter.
Kearns' third goal of the game brought the Lizards (4-11) to within 13-12 in the fourth quarter but they could get no closer. Kearns also had two assists to round out his five-point night. Kevin Crowley scored five goals while Rob Pannell had a goal and four assists for five points. Dylan Molloy had a goal and three assists while Justin Reh and Nick Aponte scored the other Lizards goals. The Lizards won 16 out of 30 face-offs in the game and turned the ball over 21 times to Denver's 18. Lizards goalie Austin Kaut made 16 saves.
The Lizards will have a bye next week before closing out their season on Saturday September 21st when they host the Atlanta Blaze at Shuart Stadium.
