
NY Lizards Lose to Chesapeake BayHawks, 24-7, in Fifth Home Game of the Season

Hempstead, NY - The New York Lizards Colin Heacock and Nick Mariano each scored four goals as the Chesapeake Bayhawks beat the Lizards 24-7 on Sunday in front of 5,112 fans at Shuart Stadium. Steele Stanwick added three goals and two assists while Lyle Thompson had three goals and an assist as the Bayhawks improved to 6-3 on the season.
Nick Aponte led the Lizards with two goals while Dylan Molloy and Justin Reh each had a goal and an assist. Rob Pannell had two assists for the the Lizards who fall to 3-7. The other Lizards goals were scored by Nick Galasso, Ryan Walsh, and John Daniggelis. Austin Kaut and Brian Carrigan both played between the pipes for the Lizards. Kaut made six saves while Corrigan turned aside three shots.
The Bayhawks jumped out to a 13-6 lead at halftime and then outscored the Lizards 11-1 in the second half. Chesapeake outshot the Lizards in the game 33-19, won the the groundball battle 43-30 and won 20 out of 34 face-offs. The Lizards committed 16 turnovers in the game compared to 15 for Chesapeake.
The Lizards return to action this Saturday August 10th when they travel to Texas to battle the Dallas Rattlers at 8pm. Then on Saturday August 17th, the Lizards return home to Shuart Stadium to host the Atlanta Blaze in a 7pm face-off.
