CHICAGO - The National Women's Soccer League announced today the renewal of its partnership with sports trading card company Parkside Collectibles following a successful 2020 season. Last year, Parkside became the first sports trading company to feature an all-women's soccer trading card set.
"We started our journey at Parkside with this very day in mind: to celebrate the groundbreaking athletes of the NWSL in the way every professional sport's league has in the past," said Parkside CEO Eric Christensen. "We believe this representation will inspire countless girls and boys, women and men, to dream, to set goals, and to accomplish amazing things."
"We couldn't be more excited to continue this partnership with Parkside," said NWSL Commissioner Lisa Baird. "Last season's Challenge Cup trading cards were a huge success with our teams and fans, and we're thrilled to have the opportunity to once again showcase our incredibly talented athletes this year with an expanded trading card offering."
This season, Parkside will provide a full set of 200 individual player cards, including multiple special inserts, such as signature cards and "Promising Prospects."
The 2021 NWSL Signature Series will feature 25 players from across the league's ten teams including Shea Groom, Rocky Rodriguez, Jasmyne Spencer, Paige Monaghan, Sarah Gorden, Megan Rapinoe, and more.
"We're honored to partner with the largest retailers in the world to deliver these cards to fans," Eric Christensen said. "We are grateful to the NWSL, the NWSLPA, and the USWNTPA for entrusting us to be their partner."
Parkside began in 2019, with sets for Major League Lacrosse and BIG3 Basketball. NWSL cards will be sold in Target and Walmart stores nationwide, as well as hobby stores. You can also buy trading cards on their website.
