Lancaster JetHawks News Release
(MODESTO, CA) - While the Lancaster offense got off to a good start, they weren't able to keep the momentum going Friday night in Modesto. Three Nuts relievers combined to hold the JetHawks hitless over five and 1/3 innings as the Nuts rallied to win 6-4 in the first game of a three-game series. The win clinches the season series in favor of the Nuts.
With Robert Donovan making his JetHawks debut on the mound, the offense was able to give him a cushion early. Barry Butera doubled in the second inning to score Lee Cruz and Brandon Barnes and take the early lead. In another JetHawks debut third baseman Jhon Florentino blasted a two-run homer in the third and Lancaster led 4-1.
Donovan retired the side in order in the first inning and allowed two runs over the first three frames, but held the lead until getting into trouble in fourth. After a leadoff walk, the next three batters all pounded extra base hits, including a home run, driving Donovan out of the game trailing by a run. Reliever Edwin Walker restored order with three shutout innings, but the JetHawks were unable to get a hit after the fourth inning.
The JetHawks will be back at it Saturday night in Modesto. Kyle Greenwalt (3-6) will pitch for Lancaster against the Nuts' Josh Sullivan (0-0). The game begins at 7:05 and will be broadcast live online at JetHawks.com/CSN and on radio at NewsTalk 1380. The Pre-Game Show begins at 6:50.
