NSC Minnesota tops Montreal Impact 1-0

The NSC Minnesota Stars recovered from their first home loss of the year with a 1-0 victory over the Major League Soccer bound Montreal Impact in front of 3,071 at NSC Stadium in Blaine, Minn. Neil Hlavaty converted a penalty for his third goal of the season in the 33rd minute, and the Stars survived Montreal's second half onslaught behind the strength of goalkeeper Joe Warren's seven saves. The Stars improve to 6-4-7 and now have 25 points in the North American Soccer League standings. The teams meet again in Montreal on August 6.
