Northern Kentucky's Lorenzen, Turnbow Earn Player of the Week Honors

April 4, 2011 - Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL)
Northern Kentucky River Monsters News Release

CANTON, OH - Coming off an impressive 69-40 victory over Huntington to claim sole possession of first place in the Ultimate Indoor Football League standings, the residual effect of the victory is rolling in for the River Monsters.

Two players - quarterback Jared Lorenzen and linebacker Santino Turnbow- earned weekly honors from the league, which were announced today (April 4, 2011).

Lorenzen becomes the first player this season to win the honor in consecutive weeks. He threw for six touchdowns and rushed for another as the River Monsters torched the league's top scoring defense, Huntington, for more than three times their season average. The left-handed quarterback is leading the UIFL in passing yards (255.8) and touchdowns (38).

For the third time this season, a River Monsters defender brought home the league's weekly honor. Turnbow turned in a solid performance with eight tackles, four pass breakups and two quarterback pressures. He is second in the league with 6.6 tackles, trailing only teammate, Jon D'Angelo.

Northern Kentucky (5-1) travels to Canton Saturday to face the Cougars for the third time this season. The River Monsters turned away a Canton upset two weeks ago with an excellent fourth-quarter effort.
