
Northern Ice to play regular season finale

The Northern Ice will play their last regular season game on Saturday at Anderson Field in Kenosha at 6pm against rivals the Indiana Speed. The last time these 2 teams played in Indiana, the Ice won 24-10.
"This will be the biggest game of the season for us" says head coach Killion. "Both teams are evenly match and they gave us a good run the last time we saw them."
Both teams play in the WPFL AFC northern division, and the Speed is out for respect. Kicker Laurie Ansorge kicked 11-11 PATS in the last game they played.
The Ice (8-0) needs this win to secure home field advantage for the playoffs. The Ice will play next week in Minnesota, The Vixens, who they have already faced and beat twice this year will be their final regular season game.
The game will be broadcast live on WRJN1400AM. Also on hand will be the women from the All American Girls Baseball League, who are celebrating their 15th year of being in the Hall Of Fame. Gate open at 5pm, tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students, seniors, and Military, and $5 for 12 and under. Children under 5 get in free.
Also, we are holding tryouts this weekend for the 2004 season. Any woman 18 years old or older who is interested in trying out for the championship bound Northern Ice should report to Anderson Field's parking lot, (26th Ave and 86th street) at 1 PM Saturday and be prepared to work out. Sweats and cleats are recommended. There is a $75 nonreturnable tryout fee. The Ice (8-0) is looking to start team development for the 2004 season, "We are looking for the best athletes in the Chicagoland and Milwaukee areas now and will have them work out with the team on the off season in the gym; it will only strengthen the team for years to come and keep us competitive" says owner Theresa Glass.
