SAN DIEGO - The SunFire goes for it's fourth straight win and sweep of the Knighthawks of Arizona this Saturday, October 11th, 7:05 p.m. PT. Check below for the complete game schedule.
Last week, San Diego SunFire broke the franchise record set just 2 weeks ago by scoring 58 points against the Amazons (2-7) in Los Angeles, the highest point total in the team's three-year history, winning 58-14 last Saturday night in Los Angeles. Check below for the complete Conference standings.
San Diego, will attempt to move above .500 for the first time this season. The SunFire is out of the playoff race but after finishing the first half of the campaign at 1-4, has an opportunity to go 6-4 by winning out. The last home game of the season is set for October 18th against the Arizona Caliente.
The Knighthawks, the Conference's last place team, seeks its second win of the season. This second year WPFL team has battled hard and plays from beginning to end. The Knighthawks won't give the SunFire an easy win if they can help it. Game time 7:05p at Sunnyslope HS in Phoenix, AZ.
LAST MEETING - The SunFire, notched its first shutout of the season with a 50-0 win over the Knighthawks just two weeks ago at La Jolla High School in San Diego.
SUPER GIRL - #20 Railene Ritzberg - Saturday night, "Rai" had 21 carries for 275 yards and 4 touchdowns, earning Offensive Player of the Game for the 6th time this season. Rai has more than 1300 yards rushing so far.
MVP ALERT -Team Captain and three-time All-Star Carmen Cruz is a force to be reckoned with on both sides of the ball. Last week - Cruz had 10 receptions for 118 yds, 3 touchdowns and a key fumble recovery in the Redzone.
DYNAMIC Rookie DUO â Linebackers Marissa Wilson and Latashia McKinney have combined for more tackles than any duo in the league. Arguably the most dominating rookie pair this season, McKinney and Wilson have earned Defensive Player of the Game honors numerous times during the campaign.
The San Diego SunFire is a member of the 17-team Women's Professional Football League. The SunFire's 2003 regular season consists of a 10-game schedule with San Diego playing its home games at La Jolla High School. Last season, the SunFire finished its second professional campaign at 9-1, the best regular season record in the disbanded American Football Women's League and Silver Cup Winners of the AFWL.
