March 21, 2003 - NBA G League (G League) News Release
GREENVILLE, S.C. (March 21, 2003) â The North Charleston Lowgators have acquired point guard Chudney Gray, according to National Basketball Development League executive director Karl Hicks and Lowgators head coach Doug Marty. North Charleston also moved point guard Tierre Brown to inactive status.
Gray is a 6-foot-3, 190-pound product of St. John's University ('00) who has played professionally in Cyprus, the Dominican Republic, Italy and China, as well as domestically in the USBL. Arguably, his most productive stint was with AOCUN-Beijing in the Chinese Basketball League where he averaged 24.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game.
Gray also put up solid numbers for the Plaza Team in the Dominican Republic, averaging 27.3 points, 7.0 assists and 6.5 rebounds. In Cyprus he played for the National Cup champion Apoel Team and was also the USBL Rookie of the Year in 2000.
Brown, a first-team All-NBDL selection, played in and started 44 games for the Lowgators, averaging 28.2 minutes, 15.7 points, 4.9 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game.
Gray is expected to be in uniform when North Charleston (25-24) closes the regular season Saturday at Huntsville (22-26). He will wear jersey #3 in that game and then be assigned #13 when the Lowgators begin play in the NBDL playoffs next week.
