
North Carolina Courage Sign Defender Ari Romero

Cary, NC - The North Carolina Courage announced today the signing of Ari Romero to a short-term contract through the 2020 season. Romero has made 31 appearances with the Mexico Women's National Team and was a member of the Houston Dash during the 2019 NWSL season.
In 2014, Romero was chosen by the Houston Dash in the 2014 NWSL Expansion Draft. She made 21 appearances with the Dash before being traded to the Washington Spirit for the 2015 season. The defender had stints in Iceland, Australia, and Norway from 2016-2018 before joining the Dash once again in 2019.
Romero played 10 games with the Dash in 2019 before going on loan to the Perth Glory in the Australian W-League. The defender played 11 games during the W-League season.
The North Carolina Courage kick off the NWSL Fall Series this Friday, September 11 against Romero's former team, the Houston Dash. The game will air on Twitch at 7 p.m.
