Norfolk Sharx Announce Two More Player Signings

Norfolk, Virginia - The Norfolk SharX Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) team is pleased to announce two more player signings for the 2011 season, pending League approval. Defender Brady Bryant and midfielder Miguel Ferrer will join the team when it takes the field at Norfolk Scope Arena on November 11 in its inaugural match against Syracuse. Bryant and Ferrer were signed immediately after the team's first open tryout the weekend of September 9 and 10th and will join Brandon Massie on the squad.

Bryant, 29, currently plays for the Charlotte Eagles of the United Soccer Leagues (USL) Professional Division where he has been a standout since joining the squad in 2008. He began his college soccer career at The Citadel before transferring to the University of Mobile for his sophomore year when he was named a 2002 NAIA third team honorable mention All-American. Bryant also played for the Chicago Eagles Select and West Michigan Edge Premier Development League (PDL) teams during his college career.

Bryant signed with the USL's Second Division Wilmington Hammerheads in 2004 where he spent three seasons before making a move to the National Indoor Football League as a wide receiver for the Columbia Stingers in 2007. Bryant is the son of Bobby Bryant, former defensive back with the Minnesota Vikings.

In 2008, Bryant returned to soccer with Charlotte where he earned 2008 First Team USL-2 All Star honors. Last season, Brady scored one goal and two assists for the Eagles in 16 games as a defender. The 6-0, 174-pound Minneapolis native enjoys weightlifting in his time off the soccer field.

Ferrer, 24, is also rostered with the Charlotte Eagles of the USL Pro Division, signing right after graduation from UNC-Pembroke in 2010. The native of Cuba who calls Miami home,

received All-Conference, All-Region, and All-American honors as a junior and All-Conference and All-Region honors as a senior at UNCP. In 2008, Ferrer studied in Germany and played a half season for the semi-pro soccer club SG Oppenweiler.

Ferrer, a 5-10, 164-pound midfielder, scored one goal and one assist with Charlotte in 22 games in 2011 and one goal and two assists in 16 games in 2010. He is the first in his family to attend college and enjoys art and spending time at the beach.
