Nordiques Respond with Six Goals

The Nordiques were facing off against the Northeast Generals to close out the Veterans Day weekend after only recording one goal last night.

The Nordiques got the upper hand in the opening frame, but couldn't find the back of the net despite the fact they got a power play opportunity.

The second period was a big one for the Nords as Sterling Wolters fired a shot that was tipped home by Laurent Trepanier for the games' first goal. The Nordiques would add another with Nick Bernardo firing a clean shot at the blue line to make it 2-0. The Nordiques would go to 4-on-4; Jonny Meiers would find Brendan Kimball in the neutral zone on a breakaway who would snipe one to the blocker side for his first of the season. 3-0 Nords. The Generals would respond to make it 3-1, but the Nordiques were headed to a power play and had six attackers on the ice. Patrick Schmedlin put home his rebound to get the goal back and Kellen Murphy tipped home a Caid Cox shot to make it 5-1 Nords after two periods. The Generals pulled themselves to within three as they converted on a chance. The Generals would pull their goaltender for an extra attacker 4-on-4 they got themselves a 5-on-4 goal with the goalie pulled to make it close. The Generals would try to set up again when Tony Achillie would take it away and seal the deal with an empty netter. 6-3 Nords win.
