Noesi to Tacoma, Shankin to Jackson

PEARL, MISS. - The Seattle Mariners have made the following roster move that effects the Jackson Generals roster. RHP Hector Noesi has been promoted to AAA Tacoma and RHP Brett Shankin has been promoted from A+ High Desert to Jackson.

Noesi, 26, made 2 starts for the Generals, posting a 1-0 record, allowing just 5 hits and no runs in 11.0 innings pitched. Noesi ranked second on the team with 12 strikeouts. He was named the Southern League Pitcher of the Week today The Esperanza, Dominican Republic native made 18 starts and 22 appearances for Seattle last season. The righty had pitched in 52 major league games for the Yankees and Mariners prior to 2012. Noesi was acquired by Seattle via trade from the New York Yankees along with Jesus Montero for pitchers Jose Campos (minors) and Michael Pineda on January 23, 2012.

Shankin, 23, made 2 starts for A+ High Desert this season, posting a 1-1 record with a 2.61 ERA, in 10.1 innings. In 2012, the righty from Wayne State University in Detroit split the year between A- Clinton and A+ High Desert. He wen 8-6, with a 5.35 ERA in 28 games (24 starts). Shankin was drafted by the Mariners in the 28th round of the 2011 draft. He resides in Washington Township, Mich.
