No more talk, time to walk the walk

March 13, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
RiverCity Rage News Release

After a successful training camp, the RiverCity Rage is ready to get down to their regular weekly routine as the 2006 National Indoor Football League season kicks off this Saturday, March 18 in the Houston, Texas, suburb of Katy. We will face the 1-0 Katy Copperheads who boast a come from behind win over the Beaumont Drillers in their season opener last weekend.

Katy will be a huge test for us coming out of the chutes. Everyone knows how big the sport of football is in the state of Texas and Houston has long been one of the nation's top college recruiting hotbeds. So, we are in for a battle.

That long trip to Houston can also be an equalizer, but you have to put that out of your head and go and focus on playing the game.

The Copperheads are lead by former NFL star Bam Morris, a Texas Tech product who played for both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs. Morris and the Copperheads will try to knock us off the ball and pound it down our throats.

We will counter with our linebacker/safety corps led by University of Illinois star Terrell Washington who looks to be back to the form that saw him sign a free agent deal with the Houston Texans before being assigned to the NFL-Europe's Amsterdam Admirals.

A former Illini teammate, Joe Bevis will also help with putting a stop on the former NFL star, as will Clarence (CJ) Jones from the University of Missouri where he was a team captain and standout.

RAGE BUILT WITH HOMETOWN HEROES Sixteen of the players on the RiverCity Rage's 2006 hail from the St. Louis Metro Area. That constitutes more than half the total roster of 31 players. The following is a list of the players and their respective high schools from this area:

RAGE FOR A CURE
The RiverCity Rage will have many special events in conjunction with our 2006 home games, but none will be more special than "Rage For a Cure". In conjunction with Mac Meetings and Events the Rage will join the fight against cancer as we honor survivors and help raise monies for the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University.

We are hopeful that corporate sponsors will get onboard and support this very worthy cause. Companies may purchase tickets on three levels:

Bronze Level-$250 buys 50 tickets for cancer survivors or those battling the disease and their families
Silver Level-$500- buys 100 tickets
Gold Level-$1000-buys 200 tickets but will also include onfield recognition.
"Rage for a Cure" is set for Friday, April 14, 2006 at 7:00 PM; a great chance to enjoy family entertainment and help a worthy cause.
