No Change in Top 10 of Latest AFL Coaches' Poll

June 18, 2014 - Arena Football League (AFL) News Release

CHICAGO - There was no movement this week in the latest AFL Coaches' Poll, as the Top 10 teams all remained in the same spot for the first time this season.

For the 26th consecutive week, the Arizona Rattlers (13-0) have claimed the top spot in the Poll. The Rattlers, who have been No. 1 in the Poll since May 8 of last year, set a new AFL record for most consecutive victories to start a season following their 70-34 win over the San Antonio Talons (1-12) last week. The West Division champs can break two more records and lock up the top seed in the National Conference with a win over the LA KISS (3-9) this week. The Rattlers' 13-game winning streak ties the AFL record for consecutive wins in a single season, originally set in 2011 by the Jacksonville Sharks, while their 17 straight regular season and postseason wins dating back to last season ties the League mark set by Jay Gruden and the Tampa Bay Storm from 1995-96. Kickoff for the Rattlers' Week 15 showdown with LA is set for 9:00 p.m. Saturday night on ESPN3.

The East Division-leading Cleveland Gladiators (11-1) cruised to a 62-46 victory over the New Orleans VooDoo (2-10) last week to remain at No. 2 in the Coaches' Poll. The Gladiators can clinch a playoff spot with a win over the Philadelphia Soul (6-7) on Saturday night. The "NET10 Wireless Arena Football Saturday" matchup is set to kickoff at 6:00 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.

The San Jose SaberCats (9-4) secured a playoff spot last week with a 47-37 victory over the Spokane Shock (6-7). The No. 3-ranked SaberCats, who have a bye in Week 15, edged the Pittsburgh Power (10-3), who came in fourth in the Poll this week, based on a greater number of higher-placing votes. The Power defeated the Soul, 57-56, in Week 14 and will look to clinch their first-ever playoff berth this weekend with a victory over the Iowa Barnstormers (6-7). Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET Friday night on ESPN3.

The fifth-ranked Orlando Predators (8-5) completed a season sweep of the Jacksonville Sharks (4-8) last week, 58-48. The Preds square off with the resurgent Tampa Bay Storm (7-6) in the third meeting of the "War on I-4" this season. Orlando has won both previous matchups this year; however, Tampa Bay enters the game riding a four-game winning streak. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET Saturday night on ESPN3.
