Portland Forest Dragons News Release

DURHAM, N.C. – Winnipeg general manager Andrew Collier and Québec general manager Nicolas Labbé were chosen Wednesday as the Daktronics Northern League Executives of the Year.

Collier and Labbé received the most votes from managers and media in the Central and East Divisions respectively.

Collier has been employed by the Winnipeg Goldeyes since 1994. He has worked an assortment of jobs, and was promoted to assistant general manager in 1999. He was hired as general manager in December, 2001, after John Hindle left the club.

"It's very surprising and gratifying for all the work that goes into running a professional team," Collier said. "I think it's a testament to what John Hindle taught me about running a team, and I want to thank owner Sam Katz for having the confidence to promote me instead of looking outside the company for a GM. Working with a guy like manager Hal Lanier also makes my job a lot easier."

Collier was born in Portage la Prairie, M.B., and attended the University of Manitoba.

Labbé was hired by Les Capitales de Québec owner Miles Wolff after a career in hockey.

Labbé worked for the Québec Nordiques of the National Hockey League and then the Québec Rafales of the American Hockey League before joining Les Capitales in their inaugural season in 1999.

"Nicolas has been tremendous for Les Capitales," Wolff said. "His work ethic and dedication are second to none."

Labbé is from St. Joseph de Beause, Q.C., and attended Laval University in Québec City.

Daktronics is a nationally known manufacturer of electronic scoring and informational display equipment including LED video replay boards. The Brookings, S.D., company can be reached at daktronics.com.
