DURHAM, N.C. â Sioux Falls outfielder Jake Burnham was selected the Daktronics Northern League Central Rookie of the Year on Wednesday while Schaumburg right-hander Dusty Keppen was chosen the Central's Rookie Pitcher of the Year.
Each Central Division manager and one media representative from each city received a vote.
Burnham, 25, is hitting .273 with 16 doubles, 19 homers and 55 runs batted in. He has one stolen base. His home run total is currently second in the league behind Kevin Roberson's 27 for St. Paul.
Burnham is playing in his first professional season. He last played for Tulane University as a senior in 1999. He was named to the Conference USA All-Star Team then.
Keppen claimed the Daktronics Northern League Central Rookie Pitcher of the Year award.
Keppen has a 3-2 record, seven saves and 3.40 earned run average in 33 games and three starts. He has pitched 53 innings, allowed 53 hits, 23 runs, 20 earned runs, one home run, 25 walks and has struck out 38 batters.
Keppen, 25, lives in Atlanta and attended Kennesaw State University, a Division II school there.
