
Nine Patriots players in NBA training camps

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C., Oct. 6 â Nine former Fayetteville Patriots players are participating in NBA training camps in hopes of earning roster spots for the upcoming NBA season. The nine Patriots players are: Chris Anderson (New Orleans Hornets), Matt Barnes (Los Angeles Clippers), Devin Brown (San Antonio Spurs), Ernest Brown (Boston Celtics), Jason Collier (Atlanta Hawks), Omar Cook (Charlotte Bobcats), Kaniel Dickens (Los Angeles Clippers), Cedric Henderson (Utah Jazz), and Britton Johnsen (New Orleans Hornets).
· Anderson, who was the NBDL's first Gatorade Call-Up, is in the first year of a multi-year agreement with the Hornets.
· Barnes, who appeared in 50 games for the Patriots in 2002-03 averaging 9.7 points, has been with Los Angeles Clippers since his call-up that season.
· Devin Brown, the Patriots leading scorer in 2002-03 at 16.9 points per game, as well as NBDL MVP and Rookie of the Year, is in a multi-year agreement with the Spurs.
· Ernest Brown, who appeared in 11 games for the Patriots last season averaging 14.3 points, was called up by the Boston Celtics last season.
· Collier appeared in 30 games for the Patriots last season averaging 15.4 points. Collier is in the first year of a multi-year agreement with the Hawks after being called up from the Patriots last season.
· Cook is in the first year of a multi-year agreement with the Charlotte Bobcats after spending three seasons with the Patriots.
· Henderson appeared in 13 games for the Patriots last season, averaging 13.7 points.
· Johnsen, who spent part of the last season with the Orlando Magic after being called up from the Patriots, is in the first year of a multi-year agreement with the Hornets.
In all, 52 players that have played in the NBA's National Basketball Development League over the last three seasons are currently on NBA training camp rosters, setting a new high-water mark since the league began play in November 2001. There were 34 former NBDL players in vet camps following the 2002-03 season and 22 after the inaugural year.
