Maryland NightHawks News Release

Rockville, MD. The Maryland Nighthawks are very busy becoming one of the best teams in the American Basketball Association (ABA). However, they are not too busy to come to your school and talk to your students about the importance of hard work and goal setting. Friday, January 20th, the Maryland Nighthawks visited Crestwood Middle School to talk with Ms. Reed's class as a reward for her students' academic success.

Not too long ago over half of the class was failing. Ms. Reed, together with the Maryland Nighthawks, offered students free Nighthawks' tickets as an incentive to pull up their grades. As a reward, seven Nighthawks players came to Ms. Reed's class and talked to the students about the importance oof believing in themselves, hard work, and respecting themselves, their friends and especially their parents and teachers. As a further reward, students who achieved an A or a B in Ms. Reed's class will participate in the Maryland Nighthawks hi-five line at the start of the Nighthawks' home game versus the Strong Island Sound at 6pm on January 28th.

The Maryland Nighthawks' mascot Dunkin has visited several other schools in the area including Beall Elementary, Fallsmead Elementary, Evergreen School and Kingsview Middle School.
