OMAHA, Neb., Thursday, September 15, 2011 The Omaha Nighthawks have named the captains for their opening game against the Virginia Destroyers. The Captains are running back Shaud Williams, quarterback Eric Crouch, defensive lineman Dusty Dvoracek, and defensive safety Stuart Schweigert.
Team captains were nominated by the team and have been chosen to fulfill this role for the entire season.
Omaha also announced the members of its Team Leadership Council. The members include all of the team captains in addition to long snapper Matt Overton, offensive lineman Damion Cook, wide receiver Andrew Brewer, and linebackers Angelo Crowell and Patrick Thomas.
Matt Overton is excited to be a part of this group and believes it has helped the Nighthawks grow closer as a team. "I am honored to be nominated to the Team Leadership Council," he said. "Coach Moglia allows us to address concerns with him or new ideas that our teammates have brought to our attention. The committee has helped us unify as a team."
The Team Leadership Council is a group of nine members was voted on by both the players and the coaches. The council serves as a liaison between the players and the coaching staff, particularly Head Coach Joe Moglia. The group meets with Coach Moglia on a weekly basis to address any thoughts, concerns, or ideas the players or coaches wish to communicate. These meetings are designed to make the Omaha Nighthawks as successful as possible both on and off the field.
