JACKSONVILLE, FL - Tuesday, January 18, 2011 - Omaha Nighthawks President and Head Coach JOE MOGLIA has named BART ANDRUS as his Offensive Coordinator ahead of the 2011 United Football League season.
Andrus brings a wealth of experience to Moglia's staff, where he joins Defensive Coordinator and 21-year NFL veteran coach TOM OLIVADOTTI.
"Any successful team has to have quality, competent leaders and Bart as our Offensive Coordinator, and Tom as our Defensive Coordinator, will give our team just that," said Moglia. "Bart has experience not only at the highest level but also in terms of working with developing players so will be a great asset to our team."
Andrus has coached in five championship games in the last ten seasons at the professional level, including Super Bowl XXXIV as quarterbacks coach with the Tennessee Titans and as head coach of the Amsterdam Admirals when he won the World Bowl in 2005 and was also named NFL Europe Coach of the Year.
"I am extremely pleased to be joining Head Coach Joe Moglia, the Omaha Nighthawks, and the UFL," said Andrus. "In the short time that I have been dealing with Joe it is easy to see why he has been so successful in the business world and previously in his time as a football coach. There are so many parallels between running a football team and running a business, and I am eager to get started with Joe and the rest of the staff in building an offense that will be exciting, dynamic, and appealing to the fans."
Most recently Andrus was the head coach of the Toronto Argonauts in 2009 and before that was an assistant coach with the Titans. He was the offensive coordinator of the 2000 World Bowl champion Rhein Fire and at the collegiate level was named American Football Quarterly NAIA National Coach of the Year in 1996. He took over a Rocky Mountain College program with a four-year losing streak and finished with a winning record and his team led the nation at all levels of college football in total offense and scoring (505 yards per game, 39.6 points per game).
Quarterbacks coached by Andrus include Steve McNair, Neil O'Donnell, Dave Krieg, Danny Wuerffel, Shaun Hill, Kurt Kittner, Gibran Hamdan, Clint Stoerner and Drew Olsen.
Defensive Coordinator Olivadotti's vast experience includes roles with the Houston Texans (2004-05), New York Giants (2000-03), Minnesota Vikings (1996-99), Miami Dolphins (1987- 1995), and Cleveland Browns (1985-1986) in various positions including defensive coordinator, linebackers coach, and defensive backs coach. His NFL career highlights include reaching the 2000 Super Bowl with the New York Giants, 12 NFL playoff appearances, six divisional titles, and one conference title.
