December 13, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Maryland NightHawks News Release
McKeesport, PA. Battling the effects of a hard fought home game the night before, the Maryland Nighthawks overcame a 19-point second quarter deficit and got by the Pennsylvania Pit Bulls 114-111 in ABA action. "I basically told them that we had to work within our offensive system if we want to win the game," explained Head Coach Twiggy Sanders. "We responded and played like a team in the second half."
Center Kevin Robinson led the comeback with dominating inside play, as he finished the game with 26 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Jason Williams also had a double/double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. The Pit Bulls were led by forward Devaugn Halsel who scored 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and swingman Jerod Brown who also had a double/double with 23 points and 12 rebounds.
The Nighthawks' victory was the second in as many days as the night before they defeated the Reigning Knights of Georgia 105-96 at Show Place Arena. Popular radio talk show host J.P. Flaim of WHFS (99.1) Sports Junkies program, suited up and played the last minute of the game as the 11th Man Celebrity player.
The Nighthawks (5-2) return home on Monday, December 13th at 7PM at Show Place Arena to face the Philadelphia Fusion. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster by calling 202 432-SEAT or by visiting www.marylandnighthawks.com or www.abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
