NIFL Suspends Fort Wayne Player
July 7, 2004 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL) News Release
Lafayette, LA- The National Indoor Football League has announced the immediate suspension of Fort Wayne Freedom player Dayna Overton.
Overton is indefinitely suspended from play in the NIFL until further notice from the league office stemming from allegations of substance abuse.
It is a league-wide rule that players involved in this situation face an immediate suspension from play, NIFL President Carolyn Shiver said. Next season, upon completion of a successful rehabilitation program, he will be eligible for reinstatement, but for now, he is suspended and will not compete during the NIFL playoffs.
