Nick Diaz to Participate in First Kick
STOCKTON, Calif. - Dec. 2, 2008 - The Stockton Cougars, of the Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL-Pro), welcome former WEC and IFC Welterweight champion Nick Diaz to Stockton Arena on Friday, December 5th as the team's honorary captain. Diaz will participate in the opening kick before Friday's 7:15 p.m. match against the Texas Outlaws.

Diaz last fought as a member of the now defunct EliteXC on July 26, 2008 during the "EliteXC: Unfinished Business" event that took place at Stockton Arena and aired nationally on CBS. Diaz defeated Thomas Denny during the EliteXC Lightweight bout that night in Stockton. He is a Stockton native and attended Tokay High School in Lodi, CA. Diaz, 25, is 18-7-0 (Win-Loss-Draw) in his mixed martial arts career.
The third place (Eastern Division, 2-2) Outlaws make their first ever visit to Stockton Arena on Friday against the first place (Western Division, 3-0) Cougars.
Stockton is 4-0 overall in PASL-Pro play after wins against Colorado, San Diego, Wenatchee and Denver this season. Dating back to the end of the 2007-08 season, the Cougars have won six consecutive matches.
The Stockton offense is led by head coach Bernie Lilavois. His 12 points, six goals and team best six assists, is second on the team behind midfielder Greg Howes. Howes leads the PASL-Pro with 13 points this season in three games games played.
The Cougars have averaged 11.5 goals over four games this season. They have averaged 13 goals in PASL-Pro play (not counting the 11/9 friendly against San Diego) this season.
