BILL NEWSON CHOSEN AS CHL SOUTHERN CONFERENCE ALL-STAR MEMBER

HIDALGO, TX: January 6, 2004 – The Central Hockey League announced the remaining Southern Conference roster selections for the 2004 Dodge CHL All-Star Game today, and Killer Bees forward Bill Newson was the lone Killer Bee selection to dress for the Southern Conference squad.

Newson, a fifth year pro from Enfield, Connecticut, makes his second ever all-star game appearance and first CHL All-Star Game outing. The 5'8" 175-pound forward was a member of the 2001 WPHL All-Star Game in Odessa and tallied 3 points (2g,1a) in that contest.

This season, Newson leads the Killer Bees in points with 25 off of a team leading 17 goals and 8 assists. He also co-leads the squad in power play goals (4), game winning goals (2), shorthanded goals (1) and unassisted goals with 2. His 17 goals ranks tied for 4th in the Southern Conference and ties for 12th overall in the CHL. Newson led the Killer Bees in points during the month of December with 12 points off of 9 goals and 3 assists. He has tallied 11 goals in his last 14 games and leads the team in multi-point games with 7 and multi-goal games with 5.

The 2004 Dodge CHL All-Star Game will take place January 22nd in Albuquerque, as the New Mexico Scorpions host this season's event with the Northern Conference battling the Southern Conference. All-Star events will begin January 21st with the CHL All-Star Banquet and continue the following day with the skills competition concluding with the all-star game at the Tingley Coliseum. There will be many other festivities surrounding the events in New Mexico, including an autograph appearance from WWE superstar and San Antonio native Shawn Michaels.
