Jersey Express News Release
Newark, NJ. New York based Bombo Sports and Entertainment, LLC (www.bombo.com) one of the premier sports production companies in the country, executed an agreement to produce a television series featuring the ABA Newark Express basketball team.
As one of the few professional sports teams owned by African-American women in any sport, the yet untitled television series will chronicle the efforts of team owners Marsha Blount and Jacqueline Halyard. Bombo has produced several film and television programs featuring teams such as the Boston Red Sox "Still we believe: The Boston Red Sox Movie," The Philadelphia Eagles, "E-A-G-L-E-S," Manchester United "Man-U: Beyond the Promised Land", and Duke Basketball, "A Cut Above: 100 Years of Duke Basketball." Bombo was also the producer of the CBS program featuring Newark product Shaquille O'Neal "A Season in Shaq's House."
"We are very excited about partnering with a producer of Bombo's stature and reputation," said Marsha Blount, Co-owner of the team. "Our attorney Gregory Moore (The Moore Law Group, LLC) approached Bombo with a proposal and was able to quickly craft an agreement with them that advances the interests of all parties concerned." "Based on their track record, we have supreme confidence in Bombo's ability to provide us with a platform to not only share our story with a larger audience, but also share the success story of our host - the great city of Newark. It is our hope that the television series will inspire more African-Americans in general and African-American women in particular to pursue careers and opportunities in the sports industry."
Team counsel Gregory Moore stated, "In consummating this agreement, the Newark Express becomes one of the few sports teams to be the featured subject of a television series. The increased visibility that results from the program will ultimately inure to the benefit of the team, the city of Newark, our sponsors and will provide us with certain competitive advantages in connection with our effort to energize fans and attract the most talented players."
