Newark Express Changes Name & Relocates to Morris County
June 14, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Jersey Express News Release
June 15th - Morris County, NJ. Morris County New Jersey is now the new Home of the Jersey Express. The change in name is only appropriate to incorporate the State in which we play. The goal is to have mass appeal to ALL New Jersey residents.
Making the move to Morris County, NJ will open additional opportunities for the organization, and the players. The Jersey Express has been greeted with open arms, by the Administration, and the County's Health and Human Services Departments. Having a Professional Basketball Team in Morris County to call its own, will work nicely with the New Jersey Mayors Wellness Campaign (MWC). The opportunity for the Express to join in on the initiatives already in place will enhance the visibility of the programs, and immediately link us to the Communities that we'll represent.
The MWC supports mayors as champions of community health. The goal is to increase opportunities for New Jersey residents to participate in daily physical activity with a long-term goal of reducing health care costs secondary to obesity. Through public-private partnerships, the MWC provides structure and resources for healthy community initiatives. By encouraging mayors to play a leadership role in supporting local opportunities for active, healthy lifestyles, the intent of the MWC is to improve health and make New Jersey a national leader in community-based health interventions.
The Jersey Express will continue to forge relationships, and develop youth programs for both Morris and Essex Counties. "We are New Jersey's Team", and we look forward to representing New Jersey in the ABA Playoffs. This is a great time for us, as we enter our third season in the league, we've established ourselves as one of the veteran teams in the ABA", stated Co-owner Marsha Blount.
The time is now to have your company associated with the "fastest growing professional sports league in the world". Our new website will be up shortly, and our new venue, sponsors, and partners will be announced during our upcoming Press Conference.
