NEWARK, NJ, Apr. 11, 2008-The defending Atlantic League Champions Newark Bears Professional Baseball Club announced the team's Spring Training schedule at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium.
Spring Training will take place beginning on Tuesday, April 15th through Thursday, April 24th. This will be the second season that the Bears will hold Spring Training at The Den. The Newark Bears will take on the Somerset Patriots twice during the pre-season schedule. Here's the schedule for the 2008 Newark Bears Spring Training, all events are open to the public:
Tues. April 15th, 10:00AM-2:00PM - Workout @ Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium
Wed. April 16th, 10:00AM-2:00PM - Workout @ Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium
Thurs. April 17th, 10:00AM-2:00PM - Workout @ Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium
Fri. April 18th, 10:00AM-2:00PM - Workout @ Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium
Sat. April 19th, 12:00PM - Spring Training Game vs. Somerset Patriots @ Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium
Sun. April 20th, 12:00PM - Spring Training Game vs. Somerset Patriots @ Jack Cust Baseball Academy
Mon. April 21st, 10:00AM-2:00PM - Workout @ Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium
Tues. April 22nd, 10:00AM-2:00PM - Workout @ Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium
Wed. April 23rd, 4:30PM-5:15PM - BEARS MEDIA DAY - Open to all fans, pre-practice meet-and-greet with fans, player autograph session, free food and beverage, and led by a special night workout under the lights at 6:00PM-9:00PM @ Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium.
Thurs. April 24th, 10:00AM-2:00PM - Final workout @ Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium
The Bears open up defense of their 2007 Atlantic League Championship in a ceremony prior to their 2008 home opener against the Bridgeport Bluefish on Tuesday, April 29 at 7:05 PM. All fans in attendance that night will receive a Bears Magnetic Schedule, presented by WSOU-89.5 FM, and will enjoy the antics of Rally, the popular traveling mascot, and post-game fireworks.
