Orlando Titans News Release
New York, NY-- The New York Titans have signed Matt Alrich to a two-year contract.
The 6'3", 220 pound defender returns to the Titans after having been traded to NLL expansion franchise the Boston Blazers for the first pick in the draft. When the NLL season was nearly cancelled, the Boston Blazers opted to go dark for one season and released all their players in a dispersal draft. Alrich was picked up by New York in the dispersal draft.
Alrich graduated from the University of Delaware in 2004. In his fours seasons as an attackman for the Blue Hens, Alrich earned 103 points on 83 goals and 20 assists. He led the team in goals and points in both his junior and senior years and was selected First Team All-Conference both years.
Alrich entered the NLL draft in 2004 and was selected by the San Jose Stealth. He played for the Stealth in the 2005 and 2006 before being traded to the New York Titans in a blockbuster deal that included former Rookie of the Year Ryan Boyle and the first overall draft pick in the 2006 NLL Entry Draft.
