New York Titans Play Final 2007 Game at Toronto Rock Saturday
April 12, 2007 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Orlando Titans News Release
The New York Titans (3-12) face the Toronto Rock (6-9) for the second time this season on Saturday, April 14th at 7:30pm at Toronto's Air Canada Center in National Lacrosse League action. Saturday's game marks the final game for the Titans this season, their inaugural season in the NLL. The game will be televised on SportsNet NY at 11pm Saturday night.
The Titans last played Toronto on March 3rd at home at the Garden and brought down the house with a 13-10 victory over the Rock. In that match, Titans Captain Casey Powell was the game's leader in points with six off of three goals and three assists. Rookie Brendan Mundorf scored three goals and notched two assists and Titans' assistant captain Ryan Boyle recorded five assists in the win. Titans' goalie Matt Vinc played all 60 minutes and recorded 37 saves.
Saturday's game in Toronto is "do or die" for the Rock, who are currently a half game behind Philadelphia in the race for the remaining playoff spot in the East. Saturday's game is the Rock's last regular season game this year, while Philadelphia has two remaining games. A Toronto win and a Philadelphia loss will clinch a playoff spot for the Rock.
"Toronto will be looking for big revenge this game," said Titans Head Coach Adam Mueller. "Their backs are against the wall. They need the win to make the playoffs and will be coming at us hard the first quarter."
Mueller added that the Titans will look to match the Rock's intensity throughout the game and implement everything they've learned in their season as an expansion team in the NLL.
"In our first game against Toronto, we were able to use our legs real well and got some real good looks at the net," Mueller said. "Defense played well and Matt Vinc played his best game of the season in net. It will be a very good test to see where we are at after 15 games."
The Titans-Rock match-up will be televised on SportsNet NY on Saturday, April 14 at 11pm EST.
