July 12, 2021 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
New York Riptide News Release
Uniondale, NY - The New York Riptide have signed forward Ty Thompson to a three-year contract, the team announced today. The deal is pending league approval.
Per team policy, no terms were released.
Thompson, selected 25th overall in the 2020 NLL Entry Draft by the Riptide, played collegiately at the University of Hartford. In 19 games over two seasons with the Hawks, the 6-foot-6 forward had 75 points on 22 goals and 32 assists. He captured a Minto Cup in 2019 with the Orangeville Northmen following a Junior B career with the Nepean Knights in which he had 288 points on 96 goals and 192 assists in 76 games.
"You can't teach height and size and Ty has both," Riptide General Manager Jim Veltman said. "But even better, he has a tremendous skill set and work ethic to go with it. Making the jump to the pro level is not easy but we believe Ty has the capability and physical attributes to succeed at this level with the Riptide."
The Riptide will return to Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum for the franchise's second season this December. Fans have a chance to be one of the first to own a player tee of 2020 first overall pick Jeff Teat! For a limited time, place a $50 deposit per seat on a Season Ticket Membership and receive a free Jeff Teat player t-shirt. While supplies last.
