San Diego Seals News Release
The San Diego Seals announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Connor Fields and goalie Skylar "Moose" Whinery ahead of the 2021-22 NLL season.
"These are two young players we're excited to have in San Diego," said Seals General Manager and Head Coach Patrick Merrill. "Connor is emerging into an elite player, and we can't wait to see what he can do in a full season. Moose is young and hungry with a lot of potential. We're glad these two are back."
Fields was a 2019-20 National Lacrosse League Rookie of the Year finalist and led all rookies in points (44) and goals (18) during the 2019-20 campaign. The lefty appeared in all 12 games for the Seals and recorded four games with five or more points. Fields was named the NLL Rookie of the Week after a six-point performance against Colorado in Las Vegas. The New York native was drafted 10th overall by the Seals in the 2018 NLL Entry Draft. He signed a one-year deal.
Whinery played two seasons in the Colorado Collegiate Box Lacrosse League, registering 243 saves and a .769 save percentage in 18 games. He was awarded the 2019 CCBLL Coaches Award after his team won the league championship. The 6-1, 220-pound goalie was a team captain at Texas State, stopping 281 shots in 27 career games with the Bobcats. He signed a two-year contract with the Seals.
