New York Empire Announce Star-Studded Lineup for Wednesday's 'Empower Her' Night

NEW YORK - The New York Empire presented by Citi will host a robust lineup of women who inspire today's youth on Wednesday, July 18 as part of Empower Her night when the Philadelphia Freedoms visit Court 17 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Hundreds of young girls, beginning at 4 p.m., will be treated to one of two New York Empire tennis clinics sponsored by Empire BlueCross BlueShield or the Women's Sports Foundation as part of Empower Her night. Participants in both clinics will receive a complimentary racquet, interact with the New York Empire roster, and take a photo with Billie Jean King and Head Coach Gigi Fernandez, who will both make appearances.

The clinic attendees will then participate in a question-and-answer session with Empower Her night honorees from 5-5:30 p.m. Empower Her night honorees include:

Kym Hampton - Former member of the WNBA's New York Liberty

Gigi Fernandez - International Tennis Hall of Famer and New York Empire Head Coach

Karen Finerman - CEO at Metropolitan Capital Advisors

Jenny Johnson - President and COO at Franklin Templeton Investments

Billie Jean King - Co-Founder, World TeamTennis; Founder, Billie Jean King Leadership

Initiative, Champion for equality and social justice

Ilana Kloss - CEO/Commissioner of World TeamTennis

Joanna Lohman - Midfielder for the NWSL's Washington Spirit and former member of the U.S. Women's National Team

Elana Meyers Taylor - Three-time Olympic Bobsled Medalist and Women's Sport Foundation

Michelle Yu - Sportscaster at SportsNet New York

Hampton will perform the evening's national anthem and a special ceremony will be held at halftime to recognize those in attendance.
